This gondola shelving has a lacquered hammertone finish which provides both finesse and durability, meaning that this is a great purchase if you are looking for a long-term investment. These pegboard gondola shelving units come in an array of different styles and sizes and can be used to showcase products big and small using conventional shelving and hangsell accessories. What’s more, units are highly easy to use and maintain. Perfect for both busy stores and high-end boutiques.

What is hammertone shelving?

Hammertone shelving is a special type of retail gondola shelving that consists of panels that have been given a hammertone powder coated finish using premium quality hammertone paint. This paint differs from other types of paint as it produces an elegant lacquered finish that gives off the appearance of hammered metal. The paint itself contains tiny mica particles that have a number of distinctive qualities including durability, insulation, reflectiveness and good ability to mix with water. Hammertone shelving is a good choice for stores that want something that is both long-lasting and looks good.

Our hammertone gondola shelving units are free-standing and highly mobile. They can be placed anywhere in the store, either against walls or on the shop floor to create browsable aisle displays. The units have good load-bearing capacity and can display larger, medium-weight products or bigger quantities of smaller items. These can be displayed in a range of formations, using a mix of accessories, so even a single display shelving unit can have both stacked items arranged on rows of steel shelves as well as hangsell goods positioned on metal hooks and prongs.

Main features of hammertone shelving

Hammertone shelving has several distinctive features that include:

  • heavy duty structure of components ranging from 1.8mm to 3mm in thickness
  • durable powder coating surface that offers a neat hammered metal appearance
  • volcano pegboard panel design featuring 6mm sunk-in holes that are spaced 25.4mm apart
  • optional kickboard base to close the gap between the bottom of the shelving unit and the floor
  • compact and easy to assemble design supplied in kit form, offering versatility and affordability
  • compatible with added end units if you want to extend or complete displays or make a neat stand alone feature display

Distinctive features of hammertone volcano pegboard shelving

These gondola systems consist of unique volcano pegboard panels which consist of multiple rows of sunk-in volcano perforations. These holes can be used to accommodate a variety of shop shelving accessories such as metal hooks and prongs. Because these units feature such a vast number of pegboard holes, it gives store owners an almost blank slate onto which create their own tailored displays. Accessories simply slip in and out of the perforations, no fuss or need for complicated attachment procedures, meaning that you can arrange and rearrange displays in minutes. Each panel is also flanked on either side by standard shelving bracket strips, so you can attach conventional steel shelves to the units too.

Types of hammertone pegboard shelving available

These shelving units come in a variety of styles and sizes to suit all retailing requirements. Our current units include:

  • Single sided hammertone volcano pegboard shelving – these units have display features on just one side and are suitable for wall or window displays. Available in a variety of heights ranging from 1200mm to 2100mm
  • Double sided hammertone volcano pegboard shelving – units with display capabilities on both sides, and with horizontal bases that protrude on both sides. Double sided units are perfect for shop floor displays where you can connect them to form browsable aisles. Can also be used as a double-sided standalone feature display. Also in heights ranging from 1200mm to 2100mm.
  • Narrow base gondola units – these units, available in both single sided and double sided form, have a narrower base shelf measured at 370mm instead of the standard 520mm. Great for smaller stores that want that little bit of extra browsing space.
  • Hammertone display end units – panels that are designed to fit onto the end of standard bays so that stores can maximise their display space or create specialised feature displays. These panels come in sizes to fit both standard base and narrow base models.

Accessories that can be used with hammertone gondola units

These display shelves are compatible with a wide range of contemporary shelving accessories which can help turn them into flexible and multi-purpose display systems. Suitable accessories include:

  • Hammertone metal shelving – 32mm flat front steel gondola shelves that have been given the hammertone finish and attach to the pegboard units using the vertical bracket strips either side of the panels. These can be used for conventional stacking displays for goods such as canned groceries, tins of paint, folded clothing or ornamental bric-a-brac on display stands
  • Metal hooks and prongs – these come in various styles and sizes and can be inserted into the pegboard holes to create effective hangsell displays for an assortment of products, including clothing accessories and packeted goods.
  • Hammertone metal shelf wire fronts and dividers – sloped shelving with wire fences which act as both a separater and a support barrier. These can be used for magazines, newspapers and a range of smaller accessory products in the likes of pharmacies and hardware stores.
  • Metal gondola wire baskets – these can be flat or angled and are great for displaying loose goods that come in small boxes as well as awkwardly-shaped items such as small fluffy toys for children.
  • Metal gondola sign holders – metal accessories that attach to the end of the units to display signs for anything from product price to store information.
  • Data strips – these easily removable adhesive strips attach to the lips of shelving or wire accessories to display product information, price or bar codes. Available in flat, angled and hanging design.

Where can hammertone pegboard shelving be used?

These shop fittings can be used to great effect in pretty much all types of retail store. Here are some examples of how this shelving can work:

  • Automotive stores and petrol stations – the hammered metal appearance of these racks makes them a premier choice for these stores and the pegboard units can be used to display vehicle accessories or packeted goods via hangsell as well as larger items using standard shelving
  • Chemists – can use wire baskets and front dividers for hygiene and everyday products that might not fit easily onto standard shelves, while medicines and deodorants can stack nicely on standard flat metal shelves.
  • Clothing stores – accessories such as bags, scarves and jewellery look great on hangsell displays. Boutique stores can also use standard shelving for elegant folded displays of designer tops and trousers.
  • Hardware stores – the heavy load-bearing capacity of these units makes them suitable for displaying DIY tools while smaller packeted items sit neatly on hangsell or in wire baskets.
  • Stationers – the angled front fences are ideal for flat products such as writing pads and folders. Packeted goods can be displayed neatly in row formation using metal prongs while larger stationery items such as printers or laminators can be placed on flat shelves with product information supplied using data strips.
  • Discount stores – because pegboard is highly flexible and allows for large quantities of fast-moving stock to be placed in display, these units are extremely suitable for discount stores for whom speed and convenience is paramount.
  • Grocery stores – tend to sell a mixture of stackable goods, e.g. boxed, canned and bottled products, along with packeted and pre-packed goods, so can make good use of both the flat shelving and hangsell accessory options.
